Greetings all,
Some of you may have noticed the lack of service from Thursday May 18th until just now on Wednesday May 24th. For some unknown reason, the server went down on the 18th and when it came back up all networking didn't work. It took four days of misccomunication to get networking services back working so I could connect to the server to try to start fixing the original problem that brought the site down.
It seems that the original problem was a harddrive issue. They've replaced the drive (and given us an OS upgrade) and I've been slowly bringing services back as I was able. Everything should be working now. Please let me know if it's not.
As to the return of the Arena.... if there's interest, it may be a possibility. I have a lot more free time these days than not and I haven't had a good dose of gaming in a while. If you're interested in a new game/setting, let me know about that too, and maybe we can build another community.

JTL Networks, our access provider, had some sort of meltdown earlier this afternoon. I'm unsure exactly what the problem was. I have not received any email about the event, nor is there anything posted on their website "news" page (which is hardly ever news). I can conclude it wasn't just our server having "the wiggins" because even their own webpage and DNS (and access by raw IP address) were unavailable.
Whatever the problem was, it appears to be fixed, and only 5 hours of down time. ::sigh::

We were hacked earlier today by some script kiddies that changed any instance of an index page to a cute little page with some sort of logo. I never bothered to ever load it, so I couldn't tell you what it was. Thanks to several arenians who emailed, IMed, or posted about the problem. We're working on finding the exact point of entry, though I suspect it was a recent vulnerability in the AWStats program that had not yet been updated. (That software package has since been removed until proof that vulnerability has been successfully removed from the package is seen.)
