The Arena has been, and will remain, a free game open to all who want to come and enjoy their time with a few, fellow, like-minded people. However, much like other free public events, there is a cost associated with running the Arena. Because we value your opinions, time, and effort associated with the Arena, we are coming to you the user to help us meet the costs of running the Arena each month so that we can continue to bring you the same level of committment and excellence that you have come to associate with the Arena in its best of times.

We come to you asking for donations, not to fund a private OGF trip to tahiti (though anyone with plane tickets and a hotel room, perhaps we can arrange a deal). We are asking purely to recover all costs associated with running the Arena online. If you donate more than we spend, we will increase our spending to bring you the best products available. The Arena will always be up front with where your money is being spent so you can be assured that it is not going to waste. All money donated to the Arena will be used on the Arena. Purple Frog Productions will not requisition any money marked for donation to the Arena for any other purpose but the Arena.

Exactly how would we be spending your kind donation?

Currently the Arena is run through a hosted provider. However, beginning with the month August, we will be running on our own server. This increase in support to the Arena is an important step. We will have full access to our files as soon as we need it. No more waiting for someone else's tech support to try to fix a problem we could easily have done ourselves. Because the cost of purchasing a server is immense, we will be renting a server located off-site. This will give us the full flexibility a dedicated server provides, but without having to worry about hardware maintenance, or securing a server on a private property. This increased flexibility will also allow us to run our own chat server, thereby reducing or eliminating the need for America Online/America Online Instant Messenger or other proprietary software clients that are out of our direct control. We do not want to be left stranded by someone else's decision again. This dedicated server will also allow us unprecedented access to scripts, functions, and features that will help make the Arena more interactive and intuitive and hopefully make your enjoyment of the game a better place.

It is our hope that you will understand our request and donate a few dollars (or pounds sterling, yen, or euros) to help the Arena assume these increased costs that will make a remarkable difference in the Arena experience. In the future we hope to have incentives to go with these donations. All incentives will be out of character, as we strongly believe in our policy of not mixing out of character with in character.
