Arena Etiquette
If you want to learn how the game works, enter the chat room during game hours. Please watch quietly, and observe the guidelines below. If you want to play, follow the steps to Create a Character.
CHATTING
Chatting isn't allowed in the room. For example, you'll be warned if you talk about your favorite music, where you live, or something on television. See Terms of Service for more information on room disruption and how it applies to different forums. If you want to interact in the game, you need to take the role of a character and play him (see the Roleplaying Guidelines). Send someone an Instant Message if you want to chat with him.
FONTS AND COLORS
Please set your chat font to Arial (on a PC) or Geneva (on a Mac) before typing to the screen. Make sure the font is in black color and plain style. Don't use boldface, italics or underline, as these confuse others. Only the hosts are allowed to use colors and styles, so that the players can follow them easily. Most hosts also request that you use standard font face, size, style and color when sending them an IM.
DICE ROLLING
Don't roll dice in the room unless you are in a fight and prompted to do so by the host. Others rolling dice are doing so because they are fighting. To roll dice, you first need to create (then validate) a character. Dice rolling without the host's approval is room disruption.
INSTANT MESSAGES
Please ask for permission in the room before sending the host an Instant Message. Hosts are usually very busy keeping the game moving, and might ignore or close your IM without looking at it. Use e-mail if you have a question while you're not in the chat room.
ROLEPLAYING
This game takes place in a genre which, if it ever existed, would be similar to 13th-15th century Europe. Remember, it is a fantasy world, but still take care to avoid anachronisms. See the Roleplaying Guidelines for more information.
